4.1.3 Cleaning and disinfection of the reusable secretion canister

1. Empty the reusable secretion canister and dispose of the aspirate properly.
2. Remove the sphere before performing the following cleaning instructions
(fig. 19(B)).

3. Rinse all components of the reusable secretion canister under running water.

4. Immerse all components of the reusable secretion canister in disinfectant
solution, considering the specific concentration quantity.
5. Afterwards, rinse the components thoroughly and let them dry.
6. The reusable secretion canister can also be autoclaved for 20 minutes at
121°C, in that case please remove the overflow protection in advance
(fig. 19(B)).
7. After autoclaving, fix the overflow protection in the lid considering the
orientation of the opening (fig. 19(B)).
8. Reinsert the sphere according to fig. 19.

Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG recommends to replace the canister sys-
tem after 12 months if it is used and disinfected frequently!
4.1.4 Cleaning/disposal of the suction tube
1. Dispose of the suction tube properly before the device is used by a new
patient!
2. If the device is used for one patient only, rinse the suction tube with clear
water (max. 0.5 l) using the rinsing bottle after each aspiration and place it
daily in the disinfectant solution recommended by
Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG for immersion disinfection (see section
4.1.1).
3. Afterwards, rinse the suction tube thoroughly with clear water and let it dry.
Even when the suction tube is used for one patient only,
Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG recommends to replace the suction tube
at least every 4 weeks since the material may become discolored and brittle
due to frequent applications!
4.1.5 Cleaning and disinfection of the rinsing bottle
1. Remove the lid of the rinsing bottle and rinse both parts under running water.
2. Immerse the rinsing bottle and the lid in disinfectant solution, considering the
specific concentration quantity.
3. Afterwards, rinse the components thoroughly and let them dry.
4. Place the lid back on the rinsing bottle.
Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG recommends to replace the rinsing bottle
every 4 weeks if it is used and disinfected frequently!
