Fig. 19: Example of parameter settings for the 4...20 mA input
In the example in Fig. 19, a current of 12 mA sent by the con-
troller is converted by the transmitter into 50 °C.
Based on this value, the transmitter calculates the low and high
relay commutation thresholds using the difference, DELT. In the
example in Fig. 19,
OLO (low threshold) = 50 - DELT = 50 - 10 = 40 °C
OHI (high threshold) = 50 + DELT = 50 + 10 = 60 °C

Threshold detector / transmitter
functions
The 8400 threshold detector / transmitter has 3 operating modes:
Read mode, Calibration mode and Simulation mode.
Mode
Functions
Read
To read out:
- the temperature measured
- the commutation thresholds
- the value of the 4...20 mA
output (transmitter only)
Calibration
To make the settings needed for
operation:
- unit
- transistor or relay output
- filter
- bar graph
- temperature adjustment
- 4...20 mA current output
(transmitter only)
- 4...20 mA current input
(transmitter only)
Simulation
• To test the configuration made in
Calibration mode with input of a
theoretical value.
• To calibrate the expansion board
in a transmitter version.
