side that was not corrected, exactly with the point that had been
previously marked on the projection plane.
8. Now check if even the laser on the repair side is exactly aligned
with the mark on the projection plane. If not, turn the tie rod until
the laser matches exactly with the mark.
9. Once done, fix the adjustment through the check nut on the tie-
rod head.
Example 2 – Replacing the suspension joints - Fixing the
inclination value!
(also applicable to: shock absorber bearing, shock absorber, fork,
steering arm) Fig. 25
1. Point the laser on a projection plane in front of or behind the
vehicle.
2. Mark the laser position by applying a piece of adhesive tape on
the projection plane in the laser pointer area. (Fig.22)
3. Mark the laser position on the tape using a felt-tip pen (e.g.:
Edding) and some adhesive tape.
4. Set the laser on the side to be corrected by aligning the laser on
a projection plane above or below the vehicle. Mark the laser
position using a felt-tip (e.g.: Edding) and some adhesive tape.
Warning: the lifting platform must no longer be moved!
5.
6. Now replace the defective components such as, for example, the
suspension joint.
7. Once repaired, first of all align the laser pointer, on the axle
side that was not changed, exactly with the point that had been
previously marked on the projection plane.
8. Now check if even the laser on the repair side is exactly
aligned with the mark on the projection plane. If not, change
the suspension joint's position on the fork until the laser matches
exactly with the mark.
9. Once done, fix the joint's position on the fork using the fixing
screws.
Warning: when adjusting the toe-in, take into account that
due to the parallel shifts, the laser pointer of the reference side
may also move together with it. Therefore, before the final toe-
in fixing, it is important to check during the adjustments whether
or not the laser pointer on the reference side may have shifted.
In that case, realign the laser pointer on the mark and check
the repaired side once again. Repeat this procedure until both
laser pointers point exactly on the markings.
MAINTENANCE
To ensure proper maintenance and regular operation, clean
threadings and surfaces on a regular basis using a soft cloth.
