If the pointer hits exactly the same point as in the first measurement
on the opposite side, it can surely be assumed that the two king pins
are not deformed at all and that the cause for the abnormal camber
should be sought in the deformation of the shock absorber.
B) Shock absorber check
Place the unit as shown in Fig.14.
Move the measurement unit's pointer to the highest point of the shock
absorber's tube (switch to the fixing of the elastic plate). (Fig.15)
If the result of the two measurements is considerably different (1
mm or more), the shock absorber is deformed on the side where the
camber anomaly was found and, therefore, the shock absorber must
be replaced. Note: always take into account that shock absorbers
should always be replaced in pairs due to age and wear!
For a more accurate comparison, you should perform two
measurements in the same way described above: both on the upper
part and on the lower part of the shock absorber's stem. (Fig.16/17)
2. MEASURING/FIXING OF THE TOE-IN AND/OR
CAMBER ADJUSTMENT BEFORE REPLACING PARTS OF
THE AXLE = LASER FUNCTION
Remove both wheels of the front or rear axle.
Secure the sickle-shaped tool either using the wheels'
original bolts or the nuts and/or the fastening bolts
provided (1952 006 635/636/637/638) on the right
and left axle hubs.
To assemble, use the most suitable conical disc (M12/M14). This will
prevent damage to the sickle bow and ensures the exact alignment
with the hub, (Fig. 18)
Loosen the laser housing's knurled fixing screw until the plate's laser
support 1952 006 647 can be fit into the housing.
Warning: the small inner radius on the end of the support
should bear on the lower knurled screw. (Fig.19)
Align the measuring tool's housing so that the laser will be exactly at
12 o'clock after the assembly. (Fig.20)
Adjust the laser head by turning, pushing or pulling it so that the laser
pointer is clearly visible on the projection plane. Depth stops in 4
preset steps. The workshop wall in front of or behind the vehicle or the
workshop's floor may be suitable as projection planes. The choice of
