Cut three pieces of silicone fuel tubing and push them onto the tubes where they exit
the fueltank. Mark the fuel lines using a felt-tip pen or coloured tape to indicate which
is the fuel feed, the overflow and the filler. Fit one or several rubber bands round the
back of the fueltank to prevent it shifting out of position.
Canopy and cockpit fittings
Install the cockpit fittings as shown in the following photos.
The canopy
The canopy is attached to the fuselage using three 2.2 mm Ø panhead self-tapping
screws on each side. As shown in the photographs, hold the canopy on the fuselage
and position it so that it overlaps the fuselage sides by an equal amount left and right.
Mark and drill the holes for the three retaining screws on each side, as shown in the
photos.
The final step is to apply the decals and name placards to the finished model,
following the arrangement shown on the title page of the instructions and the kit box
illustration.
Assembling the PIAGGIO P 149 D
To make it easier to connect the aileron and landing flap servos to the receiver, we
recommend that you permanently connect 100 mm long extension leads to the
appropriate receiver sockets (2, 5, 6 and 7).
Connect the aileron and flap servos to the extension leads.
Slide the wings onto the aluminium joiner tube and fit the four plastic screws to hold
them against the fuselage. Don't over-tighten the screws: turn them just to the point
where the wings make firm contact with the fuselage.
Balancing the PIAGGIO P 149 D
Support the assembled model (fueltank empty / flight battery installed) under both
wing roots at a point about 140 mm aft of the wing root leading edge; this works best
if the model is inverted. If the CG position is correct, the model will hang level, with
the nose inclined slightly down. If necessary, re-position the receiver battery, or glue
lead ballast to the nose or tail to obtain the correct balance. All the control surfaces
must be exactly at centre when the transmitter sticks and trims are in the neutral
position; check this before the first flight.

We recommend that you set 30% exponential on all control surfaces at the
transmitter.
