Allow the glue to set hard, then press the aileron and flap hinges into the slots in the
wing to check the fit; you may need to adjust the slots in the wing slightly.
Push the hinges into the wing to a depth of about 1 mm. Apply cyano to both sides of
the hinges as before, then push the ailerons and flaps against the wings, leaving a
gap about 0.5 mm wide along the hinge axis.
Fit the appropriate extension cables to the servo leads and secure each connection
with a piece of heat-shrink sleeve or a drop of cyano. Set all the servos to centre from
the transmitter, and fit the output levers on the output shafts.
Use your fingertips to locate the servo recesses in the wings, and melt the film over
them using the tip of a hot soldering iron. Use a length of thread to draw the servo
leads through the wing panels: tie the thread just behind the connector and pull the
lead through in this way.
The servos can now be installed in the wings: press the rubber grommets and tubular
metal spacers into the servo mounting lugs, then place the servos in the wing
recesses.
Drill 1.5 mm Ø pilot-holes for the servo retaining screws.
Fix the servos in place using the screws supplied in the servo accessory packs. Use
the metal spacers as a template for drilling the pilot-holes. You may find it easier to fit
the tubular spacers if you slip them onto the shaft of a small screwdriver first.
Use the tip of a hot soldering iron once more to melt away the film over the holes for
the horns on the underside of the ailerons.
Remove the film from the ailerons and flaps over the area of the threaded horn
bases. Prepare the aileron and flap horns by assembling the threaded sleeves,
cheesehead screws, horn lugs and nuts as shown in the photo.
Insert the horns in the holes in the ailerons and landing flaps, and set them to the
stated lengths. Glue the horns in the ailerons.
Assemble each pushrod from two M2 clevises, two M2 nuts and a 64 mm length of
M2 studding (threaded rod). Determine the correct length of the pushrods by
connecting them to the horns and the servo output arms. Adjust the clevises to suit,
and tighten the locknuts against them to prevent them working loose. With the servos
exactly at centre, check that the control surfaces are at neutral. Apply a drop of UHU
schraubensicher (thread-lock fluid) to each nut when you are satisfied.
The next step is to install the wire undercarriage legs: use the tip of a hot soldering
iron (or a sharp balsa knife) to remove the covering film over the slots. Iron down any
flaps of film on the inside of the channels.
The main undercarriage legs can now be inserted in the channels and secured with
the plastic saddle clamps and pan-head self-tapping screws. Remember to drill pilot-
holes for the saddle clamp retaining screws beforehand.
