2- Stanchion disassembly FIG. 24
Fix the slider of the stanchion tube (5-6) into a vice equipped with protection
jaws. Insert the tool with part no. R5081AA into the damper rod to prevent the
body (30) from turning. Turn the tool to insert the two couplings in the body hex.
end and stop it by inserting a pin in the two opposite holes. Unscrew the foot
screw (47) with the 21-mm socket wrench. Remove the foot valve unit (41)
complete with OR (44).
FIG. 25
Gently withdraw the damper unit (22) from the stanchion tube (5-6).
Unscrew and remove the check nut (23) and remove the spring guide (24) from
the damper rod.
FIG.26
In order reach the pumping element from the damper, the rebound bumper parts
must be removed first: keep firmly the upper bushing (26) with the 18-mm Allen
wrench and unscrew the lower bushing (29) with the 17-mm wrench.
Remove the upper bushing (26) and the floating bushing (28) of the rebound
buffer from the damper rod
FIG. 27
Remove the stop ring (27) from the damper rod (32) with a small screwdriver.
Remove the stop ring (27) and the lower bushing (29) from the rod making sure
not to scratch it.
FIG. 28
Push the rod (32) into the body (30) so that the complete pumping element can be
pulled out from the bottom.
3- Rebound setting change FIG. 29
Fix the milled side (wrench 17) of the damper rod (32) into a vice. Do not
overtighten.
Unscrew the locking nut (38) of the pumping element for damping during
REBOUND with the 12-mm wrench.
Remove all pumping element parts and put them down in the disassembly order.
Make sure the ring (35) of the piston (36) is not worn out; replace it, if damaged.
In order to change the original setting, modify the set of washers (37).
Reassemble all parts following the reverse order. Pay particular attention to the
piston position (36): its slotted side must be opposite to the set of washers (37).
An improper piston position will cause troubles to the fork.
Tighten the nut (38) as indicated.
4- Compression setting change FIG.30
Fix the hex. side of the foot screw (47) in a vice. Do not overtighten.
Unscrew the locking nut (42) of the COMPRESSION damping unit with the 12-
mm wrench.
Remove all parts and place them according to their disassembly order.
Change the set of washers (46) to change the original setting.
A protection plug and the compression adjuster are inside the screw (47). Do not
remove this part; should the adjuster not work properly, then change the complete
foot valve (41).
Reassembly all parts in the reverse order. Pay particular attention to the piston
position (45); its slotted side must be opposite to the set of washers (46). An
