3.10.1 Ramp (SOFT START FUNCTION)
The slope of the ramp is set by the "rr" parameter to between 0 and 500° C/minute. The
ramp function is deactivated when "rr" = 0.
If the ramp is used, the regulation will increase or decrease at the prescribed rate after
power up, or when the setpoint is changed.
In the example opposite, the ramp is 5° C/min. From power up with a setpoint of 125° C, the
controller will take 20 mn. to reach the setpoint. The setpoint is then raised to 150° C at the
fortieth minute, and the controller takes 5 minutes to reach this new value. At the 70th
minute, the setpoint is lowered to 75° C, which the controller takes 15 minutes to reach.
3.10.2 Ramp and soak
The soak function is actuated by configuration of the alarm output. The OUT2 parameter
must be set to TIMR. This makes the alarm relay a time-delay relay; it latches at power up
and opens after a time defined by the SP2 parameter, in minutes (0.1 to 4553.6mn).
If the controller power supply, or its output, is connected through the alarm contact, the
controller will act as a soak controller. In the example opposite, ramp value RR is
5° C/minute, Sp1 = 125° C and SP2 = 9 (minutes). The power is applied at time "0" and the
temperature rises at a rate of 5° C/mn up to 125° C , the setpoint temperature. When this
temperature is reached, the timer starts, guaranteeing a hold at this temperature for 9
minutes. At the end of this time, the alarm contact opens, cutting off the regulation. The
temperature can be made to fall at a specified rate.
