5.2 Installing the compressor

▶ Install and mount the compressor horizontally.
▶ In case of outdoor installation: Use a weather protec-
tion.
▶ In case the compressor is operated under extreme
conditions e. g. aggressive atmosphere or low out-
side temperatures: Take suitable measures. Con-
sultation with BITZER is recommended.
5.2.1

Arranging for removal clearances

When installing the compressor in the system, arrange
for removal and maintenance clearances of sufficient
size.
• CSW105: provide at least 450 mm for the removal of
the oil filter!
5.2.2

Marine application

With regard to marine applications, defined diagonal
mounting on the longitudinal axis of the ship can be ne-
cessary, see figure 3, page 54.
Mount the compressor in parallel to the longitudinal
axis of the ship and
• either horizontally to the water level
• or inclined by 10° in the longitudinal direction of the
compressor, with the motor downwards
Requirement: During operation, the oil level must re-
main in the range of the upper sight glass. This is in-
dicated in the following figure as a large grey line.

Vibration dampers

Vibration dampers specially tuned to the compressors
are available as option. On a vibration-free base the
compressors may be mounted solidly. To reduce struc-
ture-borne noise however, it is recommended to use
them.
NOTICE
!
!
Do not mount the compressor solidly on the
heat exchanger!
Risk of damage to the heat exchanger (fatigue
fractures).

Tighten the screws until first deformations signs of the
upper rubber disc are visible.
