Installing the compressor

CAUTION
The compressor is filled with a holding charge: Excess pressure 0.2 .. 0.5 bar nitrogen.
Risk of injury to skin and eyes.
Depressurise the compressor!
Wear safety goggles!
Rigid assembly on a common frame has proven advantageous ‒ however, the compressors for the oil and gas
equalisation versions and the optimized suction header must be at an absolutely identical level. An advantage of
this type of assembly is that the entire pipe layout between the compressors can also be rigid. However, care must
be taken that the pipe sections from the compressor to the suction and pressure headers are still flexible enough
by providing a suitable pipe layout and length.
Depending on the sound emission and / or structure-borne sound requirements, the overall frame can be mounted
on vibrating elements.
Information
Observe tightening torques for screwed connections according to maintenance instructions AW-100 !

Commissioning

Prior to commissioning, safety devices and system control must be carefully adjusted and their function must be
checked ( see chapter Safety devices and system control, page 49 ).
To avoid gear hunting during commissioning, the receiver is filled with a basic supply of refrigerant. This is followed
by switching on each compressor individually (procedure in accordance with the relevant operating instructions)
and checking immediately for secured oil supply (visual inspection on the sight glass of the compressor or oil level
controller). The oil level must be controlled over a longer period of time under all operating and load conditions. If
required, the oil supply (level 1/4 .. 3/4 of the sight glass height) and the refrigerant must be topped up. With re-
spect to temperature and oil return, the oil separator must be checked (install a sight glass for visual inspection).
The oil return must take place intermittently, a constantly overflowing hot gas/oil mixture indicating a fault. The fol-
lowing causes may be present and must be rectified immediately:
• Overcharging of the system with oil
• Separator too small
• Float valve defective or dirty
