Brake Generator Mode
The Z21
-Boosters can also be used as a replacement for the brake generator 10779 by the output of the
®
booster being configured as a DCC brake generator. With a dual booster 10807, it is possible to set an
output in the brake generator mode independently from other outputs.
In the brake generator mode, the DCC signal from the control centre is analysed in the booster in real
time, all of the speed levels are replaced by speed level 0 (standstill) in the booster and only then is the
signal output located at the booster output. This means that the DCC locomotive coasts into the stopping
section, where it remains stationary. The locomotive functions such as the lighting, the steam generator,
the sound, etc. are retained. It is also possible to activate and deactivate locomotive functions in the stop-
ping section. A brake generator therefore suffices for a number of braking sections but please ensure that
their current consumption remains under 3 A. Should your braking sections require a higher output (e.g.
due to there being a large number of illuminated carriages), then simply use additional brake generators.
