The Z21 -Boosters can finally also be connected with an external control centre using the three-pin "CDE"
®
port. The CDE port is an older but still widespread standard and it is a possibility that is provided by a large
number of control centre manufactures. It is recommended that a twisted cable be used for terminals "C"
and "D", that are used to transmit the data signal from the control centre to the booster. The additional
connection of the booster with the control centre using terminal "E" makes it possible for the booster to
report a short circuit to the control centre, it hereby having all of the additional track outputs deactivated.
These cables are to have a cable cross section of approx. 0.25 mm2 (AWG24) as a high performance can-
not be expected at the CDE port itself.
INFO: The maximum number of boosters that can be connected to each other or the the same
control centre depends on the connection lengths between each of the devices and the resulting
overall length in addition to the control centre that is used.
CAN: Max. 8 boosters can be connected with a maximum connection length of 20 m for example,
whereby this is reduced to 6 boosters from a connection length of 120 m. We recommend the use
of our CAN hub 10804 in order to increase the number of boosters that can be operated.
B-Bus: as far as the control centre that is used is concerned, max. 10 boosters can be operated for
example when connected to the Z21
m, whereby this number can be reduced to 8 boosters when using the multiMAUS in combination
with the 10764 booster and to 7 boosters when using the multiZENTRALE
The Z21 -Boosters accepts the DCC and the Motorola
®
CAUTION: Avoid using the different connection forms in a single booster string. Only use one of
the three possible connection forms. One example of an incorrect connection: the CAN and the
B-Bus are mixed in the following image and they are even used parallel at the end.
