Prevention of accidents
1.1 Destined use
The wire rope winch >BETA< with spur gear is a power operated winch fixed to a console.
The wire rope winch is intended to be used, in accordance with regulation BGV C1, as an unguided
loading device on stages and studios, to lift and lower loads, e.g. scene designs, cross heads, light-
ens systems, etc.
A slack rope can be attached to the carrying medium for guiding loads. (can be delivered as an ac-
cessory).
Not suitable for use in explosive danger area.
Not suitable for use in hostile environments
The winch is not designed for continuous operation.
Alterations to the winch or fitting of accessories are only allowed with our written approval.
Pay attention to the technical data and functional description!
1.2 Regulations for the prevention of accidents
Observe any rules which are valid for the respective country.

1.3 Safety instructions
Operation, installation and maintenance work should only be executed by:
Competent, qualified persons (definition of experts acc. to IEC 364)
Qualified persons for reasons of their training, experience and instruction are persons who do their neces-
sary activities without danger and who can avoid this danger due to their knowledge of directives, regulations
for the prevention of accidents and standards. These persons are responsible for the security of the
installation.
Acc. to DIN 56925 resp. DIN 56 921-11, use of this device has to be under the supervision of knowl-
edgeable personnel, because ever-changing local, technical, safety conditions may not be
adequately registered.
Man riding using the winch to raise, lower or haul people is strictly forbidden.
Scenery hoists acc. to regulation BGV C1 (04.1998) and DIN 56925 (06.1997) resp. bar hoists DIN
56921-11 (07.1997) are appropriate for the use as hoists for the transport of persons on stage.
Prior to commissioning of these devices, the following shall be taken into account:
♦ The safe working condition of hoists for the transport of persons on stage shall be tested by experts prior
to commissioning; in doing so, these hoists for the transport of persons on stage shall be submitted for the
purpose of testing to 1,25 times the rated capacity under static and dynamic conditions.
♦ Prior to each production, the hoists for the transport of persons on stage shall be tested by experts and a
test with load shall be carried out. When carrying out such load tests with persons, these tests shall be car-
ried out at a height of not more than 0,5 m above ground.
Unnecessary of loads being moved over people is forbidden (acc. to regulation BGV C1).
Never touch moving parts.
Defects must be repaired immediately by competent trained personnel.
