1.6 Instructions for securing the ends of wire ropes
Hanging the rope and securing the rope: The end of a newly fitted wire rope has
to be configured in such a way that its end is permanently secured and the structure
of the rope cannot work loose.
The end connection of the wire rope has to be regularly examined (fractured
wires – corrosion – cracks in the sleeve – loose clamping screws etc.).
As end connections you are only allowed to use the following:
⇒Aluminium press-fit connections according to DIN 3093
⇒Splice connections according to DIN 3089 (uncovered)
⇒Rope clamps
Rope clamps (e.g. to DIN 15315
or similar to DIN 43148)
⇒ Wire rope clamps according to DIN 1142 are not allowed to be
used as rope end connections in hoisting operations.
The winch should be given a thorough examination by a competent person at least once a
year. Always ensure the maintenance interval is adhered to. Only use original accessories
and spare parts, otherwise safe function is not guaranteed.
The entire installation has to be examined by a competent person before taking into opera-
tion, when necessary, after considerable changes and every 4 years.
