Maintenance

5.1 General
Procedures for Maintenance and Servicing
The BD Veritor Plus Analyzer requires little maintenance from the user to provide reliable performance. Any maintenance or repair not
described in this section should be performed by BD representatives only.
ALL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OTHER THAN THE PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION MUST BE
PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL. NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THIS WARNING
5.1.1

BD Veritor System Verification Cartridge

The BD Veritor System Verification Cartridge must be run using Analyze Now operation.
A Verification Cartridge is supplied to allow the user to perform a functional test on the Analyzer. The frequency of verification testing is
dictated by local site regulations or practices. A verification test counts as one test towards the Analyzer's maximum allowed number of
tests. All BD Veritor System Verification Cartridges must be obtained from BD or from a BD-authorized distributor. Cartridges from other
manufacturers are not compatible with the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer.
To perform a verification test:
1 Place the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer on a flat, dry, stable surface.
2 Ensure that the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer is not in direct sunlight or exposed to a bright light.
3 Check the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer for an inserted device. If a device is present, remove it from the Analyzer.
4 Press the front panel power button. The BD Veritor Plus Analyzer must complete a self-test before it is ready for use.
5 When the display window reads INSERT TEST DEVICE OR DOUBLE-CLICK BUTTON FOR WALK AWAY MODE, remove the
BD Veritor System Verification Cartridge from the pouch and insert into the slot on the right side of the Analyzer, aligning the insertion
arrow on the Verification Cartridge with the arrow above the slot. Insert the cartridge fully until it stops. A distinctive "click" will be noted
when the cartridge is properly engaged in the Analyzer.
6 The display will show the remaining read time as the read is performed. The read duration of the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer is
approximately 30 seconds. Do not remove or touch the cartridge during this time.
7 When the read is complete, the test result will be displayed as one of the two following messages:
VERIFY PASS
or
VERIFY FAIL
CONSULT MANUAL
ERROR 25
8 If the message VERIFY PASS appears, the Analyzer may be used to test specimens. If the message VERIFY FAIL appears, the
Analyzer may not be used to test specimens and may need to be replaced. See section 6.3 for troubleshooting information. Please
contact your local BD representative for assistance.
9 Return the BD Veritor System Verification Cartridge to the resealable pouch for the next use.
