• Sheath with no post-treatment (uncoated and without
thermal stabilisation).
• Deviation of the material between sheath and core.
• Fittings that are firmly sewn into the round sling and
have a different marking to that specified in EN 1677.
6.3 Round sling variants and
rigging methods
• Single direct rigging method:
Straight-line application between the load lifting
attachment and the load. The round sling forms
two parallel legs.
Fig. 2: single direct
• Single choker hitch rigging method:
The round sling is wrapped around the load with parallel
legs. The end formed by the deflection is pulled through
the other. The round sling can be wrapped once or
twice. In choker hitch, the working load limit is only
80 % of the actual working load limit. This is also
depicted on the label (see Chapter 6.4 Marking).
Fig. 3: single tied
„Double choker hitch" means that the strap is wrapped
twice around the load and then pulled through the
counter loop.

• Basket hitch rigging method:
In the single-wrapped rigging method, also called
basket hitch, the attachment device is wrapped once in
a U-shape around the load. The loose ends are guided
upwards and hooked into crane hook or load lifting
device; so the load only rests in the lifting slings.
To double the working load limit, the angle of inclination
ß must not exceed 6°.

• It is not permitted to use two round slings for
attachment in basket hitch!
Except for the attachment of
– large loads, provided the attachment devices are
prevented from slipping together and the load is
prevented from shifting.
– long rod-shaped loads, provided that an inclination
of the load, a slipping of the attachment devices and
ejection of the load or parts of the load are avoided.
This requirement does not apply to the lifting and raising
of the load close to the ground.
