7 USE

Use the motor as indicated on the nameplate and ensure that the operating conditions are
within the specified limits.
Make sure that the installation area specifications are observed (e.g., the max. surface
temperature in relation to the dust's flashpoint).
The motors are designed for S1 duty and direct mains supply.
Make sure that the motor is not subjected to overloads, increased ambient temperatures or
excessive voltage drops.
Before putting the motor into operation after a lengthy period of disuse, run the checks specified
in chapter 5.1.
In case of anomalous operation (excessive power absorption, increased temperature, noisy
operation or vibration), immediately notify the maintenance supervisor.

8 MAINTENANCE

8.1 ELECTRIC MOTOR MAINTENANCE

The inspection and maintenance schedule ensures the motor's correct performance over time and the
intended level of operational safety. These activities must only be performed by operators trained in
the application of current standards on safety in the workplace, as stipulated by Standard EN 61241-17.
All work on the motor must be done with the motor shut down and disconnected from
the power supply (including any auxiliary equipment); take suitable measures to protect
against unintentional re-activation.
Do not open the motor or terminal box in the presence of combustible dust.
Do not dump polluting liquids, worn parts and maintenance waste into the environment.
Dispose of all such materials as specified by current applicable laws.
Before doing any maintenance work, activate all the safety devices and, if necessary, inform persons
working on and in the vicinity of the unit. Cordon off the area around the unit and prevent access to
any equipment which, if activated, might be the cause of unexpected health and safety hazards.
The motor must only be serviced with appropriate tools designed not to damage the
bearings or protective apparatus – never use hammers or other equipment which may
damage the motor.

8.2 GENERAL INSPECTION

Inspect and service the motor at regular intervals, depending on the operating environment and the
motor's duty cycle. The interval between scheduled inspections must be determined experimentally, in
accordance with the operating conditions and the following instructions:
Make a first inspection after about 100 hours of operation
Make sure the original installation conditions are unchanged (type of dust, ambient conditions,
etc.)
Make sure the unit is well ventilated and the fan cover and grille are free of obstructions and
dust build-ups.
Clean all surfaces as required by Standard of EN 61241-17
Make sure the gaskets, cable lines and shaft seals are in good condition
Check the bearings for vibrations or noisy operation
Make sure the motor and transmission components are correctly secured
