5.0 Commissioning

This chapter provides information on commissioning the machine. You will learn the steps for commissioning the
machine which are the same as for preparing the machine for use after an extended period of disuse. In the process,
you will discover how to check the machine status and perform a trial run with functional checks. Before using the
machine, you must check its state and then perform a trial run with functional checks. If you identify any defects, you
must remedy them immediately.
On initial commissioning, the operating staff should be trained in the use of the machine.
Whenever the machine is in use, the owner/operator of the machine has full responsibility for the safety of the persons
in the machine's danger area. The owner/operator is thus obliged to ensure the operational safety of the machine.
The operator must familiarise himself/herself with the machine when the machine is handed over. This means:
• They must have read and understood the operating instructions (especially the chapter Safety regulations).
• They must adopt the correct measures, and switch off and secure the machine in case of emergency.
During the first few hours of operation, the whole machine must be monitored to identify potential malfunctions.

5.1 Checks

Before using the machine, you must check its state and then perform a trial run with functional checks. If you identify
any defects, you must remedy them immediately.
Visual checks
Before starting the machine a number of visual checks must be performed. Please refer to the „Visual checks" mainte-
nance card for details.
Electrical connection
In case of an incorrectly implemented electrical connection, or of defective electrical components, severe
(and even fatal) injuries, or major damage to the machine are possible. To avoid this, perform the checks detailed on
the „Visual checks" maintenance card.

5.2 Trial run

Perform a trial run before using the machine in production.
Conditions for switching on
Before you start the drive motor, the following switch-on conditions must be fulfilled:
- The machine must be connected to the required power supply. Refer to the section „Electrical connection"
in the chapter „Transporting, installing and connecting the machine".
For a trial run, you must start the machine by pressing the ON switch on the on/off switch. A number of functions need
to be checked while the machine is running.
If you identify any defects during the trial run, remedy them immediately. After each repair, a further check
is required. Do not operate the machine until all of the following checks have been completed satisfactorily.
Perform a functional check of the safety equipment in line with the maintenance items.
