3. Safety
Intended Use
The LifeStart is a height adjustable patient platform that can be used to facilitate
neonatal transition at birth. It provides a stable platform for mother side resuscitation
and stabilization practices.
It can be used in hospital delivery rooms, operating theatres, newborn nurseries and
neonatal intensive care units.
Indications for Use
Infants requiring resuscitation/stabilization at birth.
Contraindications
The LifeStart is not suitable for patient transport.
The LifeStart must not be used on patients over 10 kg.

The LifeStart is rated to a degree of Ingress Protection (IP) 30.
Never leave an infant unattended on the LifeStart patient platform.
Ensure the LifeStart patient platform is set to the correct height prior to birth.
Do not adjust the height of the patient platform whilst the patient is on the
LifeStart.
All LifeStart height adjustments must be completely free from obstructions and
the patient platform should be clear of the bed or operating table. Failure to
observe due care could pose a risk to the neonate, mother, user or other
medical staff. In addition, it could risk instability or cause damage to the
product, bed or operating table.
Do not position the LifeStart so that it is difficult to disconnect the device from
the mains electricity supply.
Ensure any damage is checked prior to use. If there is any sign of damage,
remove the LifeStart from service and report to your local distributor. The
LifeStart can only be repaired by an Inspiration Healthcare trained personnel.
This product should not be modified without prior approval from an Inspiration
Healthcare representative.
The total weight of all accessories on the LifeStart should not exceed 15 kg.
Connecting electrical equipment to the Multiple Socket-Outlets (IEC Power
Outlets) effectively leads to creating a Medical Electrical system and the result
can be a reduced level of safety.
Maximum output from the IEC sockets should not exceed 6.3 A.
