To turn on the Timer, press and hold the
Power button for 3 seconds until the display
illuminates showing "- - - -".
To start the Timer press and hold the
Start/Reset button and the "-" symbols will
progressively disappear from the right. When
the last "-" symbol disappears, the timer will
show 00:00 and will then start counting up, at
which point the user can release the
Start/Reset button. The display indicates the
time in minutes and seconds.
The Timer indicates how much time has passed with the umbilical cord of the newborn
baby still intact. It will emit single, double and triple beeps to indicate one, two and three
minutes respectively without having to visually check the display.
To reset the Timer, press and hold the Start/Reset button for 2 seconds. This will reset
the Timer to begin counting from 00:00.
To turn off the Timer and preserve battery life, press and hold the Power button for 2
seconds. The display will go blank when turned off. After the timer has been running for
20 minutes it will turn off automatically to preserve battery life.

If at any stage the LifeStart is required to be switched off, where applicable turn off the
electricity supply at the wall switch and unplug the power cable from the mains electricity
supply.
7 . Infection C ontrol , C leaning and M aintenance Instructions
Important Notes

Infection control and routine cleaning should be carried out in accordance with
the local Infection Control Policy.
Products must be decontaminated prior to servicing or return to the supplier.
Any product being returned to Inspiration Healthcare or the local distributor
must be accompanied by a decontamination certificate. A copy of the
certificate should be affixed securely to the outside of the packaging.
All cleaning agents must be used in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions for use.
Do not immerse any part of the LifeStart in fluids.
Do not use phenolic based products for cleaning.
Do not process LifeStart in an autoclave, steriliser or automatic washer-
disinfector.
Do not use cleaning or decontamination methods different from those
recommended without approval by Inspiration Healthcare.
