HI-Fl AUDIO PROBLEMS
Breaks are noticeable in Hi-Fi audio
reproduction.

@ Is the automatic tracking mode engaged?
— Engage the manual tracking mode. (See page 28.)
Soundtrack on the Hi-Fi audio track cannot
be reproduced.
Audio level indicators do not function.

Whistling or howling is heard from TV
during recording.
Clock setting is not possible.
Some channels are skipped over when
scanning channels.
Channel cannot be switched.
Snowy picture on screen when viewing TV
programs while recording another program.
Remote control does not function.

Operating sound is audible during
@ This is normal because VCRs incorporate motors, rotary head assembly, etc. for
recording, playback, rewind, fast forward,
their operation.
— Press the AUDIO MONITOR button to obtain "Hi-Fi".
@ Is "LEVEL INDICATOR" set to OFF on the VCR SET UP menu?
— Set it to ON.
@ Move camera's microphone away from TV or reduce TV sound volume.
@ \s the TIMER indicator lit on the display panel?
— Press the TIMER button to turn off the indicator.
@ Those channels are preset to be skipped over. If you need them, restore them.

@ Is recording in progress?
— Press the PAUSE/STILL button, select a desired channel and press
the PLAY button.
@ ls the VIDEO indicator on?
— Press the TV/VIDEO button so that the indicator extinguishes.
(With AV connection with the RF output channel select switch set to OFF,
the indicator and the TV/VIDEO button have no effect.)
@ Batteries are discharged.
— Replace with new ones.
e@ Are the RCU CODE switch on the VCR and the A/B CODE button on the remote
contro! set to the same code?
— Press the A/B CODE button for the correct setting.
e@ Adjacent index codes may be too close to each other.
— Erase some index codes and mark new ones, if necessary, with sufficient
distance between two index codes.
This recorder contains microcomputers. External electronic noise or interference could cause malfunctioning. In such cases,
switch the power off and unplug the power cord. Then plug it in again and switch on. Take out the cassette. After checking the
cassette, operate the unit as usual.
HEAD
CLEANING
@ Accumulation of dirt and other particles on the video heads
may
cause
the playback picture to become
blurred or
interrupted.
e@ Although this model is equipped with a built-in head cleaner
which
automatically
cleans
the
heads,
reducing
the
likelihood of dirty heads, if such troubles are encountered
please consult the nearest JVC dealer.
