Assembly
Assembling the gripper
Risk of injury or damage due to improper assembly!
An incorrectly mounted gripper may result in uncontrolled movements that could
injure personnel or damage other system parts. Gripper assembly thus requires
basic mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical knowledge.
O The gripper may only be assembled by qualified personnel (see "Personnel
qualifications").
O
Make sure that the gripper is securely fastened.
There are two options for gripper assembly:
There are mounting threads with a center hole on the mounting surface that can be
used for assembly.
W
2
On the base (two mounting threads)
W
3
On the side (two mounting threads)
1. Tighten the gripper as shown in figure
– Use the provided centering rings C (2 pieces) for this.
2. Tighten the screws. See figure
Gripper fingers are assembled on the carrying plates:
Note: The gripper fingers are not supplied.
W
3
Gripper fingers can be assembled on the carrying plate vertically or
horizontally. There are two mounting threads per carrying plate for
each position.
Connecting the gripper pneumatics
Danger of injury if assembled under pressure!
Injuries and damage to the device or system components may occur if the
pressure is not switched off before beginning assembly.
O Make sure that the relevant system part is not under pressure before you
assemble the product.
There are two options for connecting the gripper pneumatics:
W
5
Compressed air connection for fittings

Connection A = open gripper
W
Connection B = close gripper
W
6
Compressed air connection for flange mounting (F = flange, G = gripper)
W
Connection a = open gripper

Connection b = close gripper
O Connect the pneumatic connections to the gripper as shown in figures

and
.
– Use the provided O-rings K (2 pieces) for this.
6
Commissioning
Risk of injury or damage!
If the gripper has not been assembled correctly, personnel may be injured and the
product or system damaged when the gripper is commissioned.
O Make sure that the gripper has been assembled by qualified personnel before
commissioning it.
O The gripper may only be commissioned by qualified personnel (see "Personnel
qualifications").
Proceed as follows to commission the gripper:
1. Before commissioning, make sure that all the connections on the gripper are
properly connected and all of the hoses are firmly fitted.
2. Switch the working pressure on.
Commissioning for the first time
Perform a function test if commissioning the system for the first time:
O Switch the compressed air on at
compressed air connection A/a.
The gripper opens.

CAUTION
O Switch the compressed air on at
compressed air connection B/b.
The gripper closes.
7
Operation
Danger of crushing and shearing between the clamping jaws and gripper
fingers!
Persons or extremities may be crushed during operation. Extremities may be
severed by this.
O Make sure that no persons are in the hazardous area during operation.
O Do not reach into the open mechanics or between the clamping jaws.
Danger of injury due to falling or ejected gripper objects!
If the power supply fails, the gripper objects may fall or be ejected (depending on
the application).
O Make sure that no persons are in the hazardous area during operation.
O Use protective devices to catch any ejected parts (e.g. a protective grid).
O Install pressure maintenance valves in your system.
O Install mechanical devices to retain the gripping force.

9
Disassembly/Exchange
Danger of injury if disassembled under pressure or voltage!
Injuries and damage to the product or system parts may occur if the pressure and
voltage are not switched off before beginning disassembly.
O Make sure that the relevant system parts are not under pressure or voltage.
10 Disposal
Environmental protection
Careless disposal of the gripper could lead to pollution of the environment.
O Dispose of the gripper in accordance with your country's national regulations.
