About This Document

These instructions contain important information on the safe and appropriate
assembly, transport, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and disassembly of
the gripper and how to remedy simple malfunctions yourself.
O Read these instructions carefully, especially chapter "General Safety
Instructions" before working with the gripper.
2

General Safety Instructions

The gripper has been manufactured according to the accepted rules of technology.
Even so, there is a risk of injury or damage if the following general safety instructions
and the specific warnings given in this instruction manual are not observed.
O Read these instructions thoroughly and completely before assembling the
gripper.
O Keep these instructions in a location where they are accessible to all users at all
times.
O Always include the assembly instructions when you pass the gripper on to third
parties.
Intended use
The gripper is exclusively intended for installation in a machine or system or
combination with other components to form a machine or system. The product may
only be commissioned after it has been installed in the machine/system for which it
is intended. The gripper and system may only be used under the operating conditions
and within the performance limits listed in the technical data.
O Only use the gripper to grip loads within the scope of its technical data.
Intended use includes having read and understood these instructions completely,
especially chapter "General Safety Instructions".
Improper use
Do not use the gripper to crush connections or objects (e.g. pipe or hose fittings,
sheet metal parts).
Personnel qualifications
Assembly, commissioning and operation, disassembly, service (incl. maintenance
and care) require basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic knowledge, as well as
knowledge of the applicable technical terms. In order to ensure operational safety,
these tasks may only be carried out by qualified personnel or an instructed person
under the direction of qualified personnel.
Qualified personnel are those who can recognize possible hazards and institute the
appropriate safety measures, due to their professional training, knowledge, and
experience, as well as their understanding of the relevant conditions pertaining to
the work to be done. Qualified personnel must observe the rules relevant to the
subject area.
Safety instructions in this document

Consequences
O Precautions
W
Safety sign (warning triangle): draws attention to the risk
W
Signal word: identifies the degree of hazard
W
Type and source of risk: identifies the type or source of the hazard
W
Consequences: describes what occurs when the safety instructions are not
complied with
W
Precautions: states how the hazard can be avoided
Meaning of the signal words
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in
death or serious injury.
