7. TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
1.    W ith the key on «START» the
starter motor does not run.
2.    W ith the ignition key turned to
«START» the starter motor runs
but the engine does not start
3.    S tarting is difficult or the engine
runs erratically
4.    W eak engine performance
during cutting
5.    T he engine shuts down whilst
working
6.    T he cutting means do not
engage or do not stop promptly
when they are disengaged
7.  Uneven cut
8.    U nusual vibrations while
working
9.  Uncertain or ineffective braking
10.    E rratic forward movement,
poor drive when going uphill or
if the machine has a tendency
to rear up
LIKELY CAUSE
– starting conditions have not
been met
–    b adly connected battery
–    b attery terminals crossed
–    fl at battery
–    b lown fuse
–    w et circuit board
–    m alfunction on the starter relay
–    i nsufficiently charged battery
–    f aulty fuel supply
–    f aulty ignition
–  faulty carburetion
–    f orward speed too high in relation
to cutting height
–    t he safety devices have cut in
–    b lown fuse
–    p roblems with the engagement
mechanism
–    c utting-means assembly is not
parallel to the ground
–    i nefficient cutting means;
–    c utting-means assembly is full
of grass
–    t he cutting means are
unbalanced or loose
–    l oose bolts and screws
–    t he brake is not adjusted
correctly
–    p roblems with the belt or the
engagement device

SOLUTION
Turn the ignition key to «STOP»
and look for the cause of the
problem:
–    c heck that all starting conditions
are met  (see 5.2.a)
–    c heck connections (see 3.4)
–    c heck connections (see 3.4)
–    r echarge the battery  (see 6.2.3)
–    r eplace the fuse (10 A)
(see 6.3.5)
–    d ry using luke warm air
–    c ontact your Dealer
–    r echarge the battery  (see 6.2.3)
–    c heck the level in the tank
(see 5.3.3)
–    o pen the fuel stopcock  (if fitted)
(see 5.4.1)
–    c heck the fuel filter
–    c heck that spark plug cap is
securely fitted
–    c heck that the electrodes are
clean and have the correct gap
between them
–    c lean or replace the air filter
–    e mpty the fuel tank and refill with
fresh fuel
–    c heck and replace the fuel filter if
necessary
–    r educe the forward speed and/or
raise the cutting height
(see 5.4.5)
–    c heck that all starting conditions
are met  (see 5.2.b)
–    r eplace the fuse (10 A)
(see 6.3.5)
–    c ontact your Dealer
–    c heck the tyre pressure
(see 5.3.2)
–    r einstate the alignment of the
cutting-means assembly in
relation to the ground (see 6.3.1)
–    c ontact your Dealer
–    c lean the cutting means
assembly (see 5.4.8)
–    c ontact your Dealer
–    c heck and tighten all the engine
and frame bolts
–    c ontact your Dealer
–    c ontact your Dealer
