13.2.5 Using the tool rest
14
MAINTENANCE
Danger due to electrical voltage! Manipulating the machine when connected to
the power source can cause serious injury or death. Always disconnect the machine
from the power supply before cleaning, servicing or maintenance work and secure it
against unintentional restarting! Repair work may only be carried out by qualified
personnel!
The machine is low-maintenance and only a few parts require maintenance. Malfunctions or
defects that are likely to impair your safety must be rectified immediately!
-
The machine and all its parts must be thoroughly cleaned after each shift by removing
dust and other buildup by blowing it out.
-
A layer of car wax on the bed helps keep the surface clean and the tailstock movement
smooth.
14.1
Lubrication
Clean the machine and its parts with a strong compressed air jet from wood dust and other
material residues; additionally clean the moving parts with a brush or a soft brush. Regular
lubrication of the spring levers and other threaded parts facilitates operation.
14.2
Cleaning
Clean plastic parts with a damp cloth without detergent.
Clean machine parts with a damp cloth and, if necessary, a little commercial detergent.
Impregnate bare surfaces of the machine against corrosion (e.g. with rust inhibitor WD40).
HOLZMANN MASCHINEN GmbH
The tool rest (1) can be used with or without arm (2).
Move support block (3): Release the locking lever (4) and
move the base to the right or left and backwards or
forwards. Tighten the locking lever when the tool rest is in
the desired position.
When using the arm, make the necessary adjustments with
the clamping levers (5) and (6) to position the tool rest.
Tighten levers 4, 5 and 6 before switching on the lathe and
ensure that there is sufficient clearance between the
workstation and the tool rest!
The tool rest can also be converted to the extension bed for
use on outboard turned parts.
