Troubleshooting the mower deck
Cut is uneven.
Problem
1. Mower deck not leveled properly.
2. Tractor tires not inflated equally or properly.
Cut is rough looking.
1. Engine speed too slow.
2. Ground speed too fast.
3. Blades are dull.
4. Mower drive belt slipping because it is oily or worn.
5. Mower drive belt slipping.
6. Blades not properly fastened to arbors.
7. Mower blades not timed.
8. Discharge tube clogged.
9. Grass build-up under mower deck.
10. Grass catcher is full.
11. Mower deck needs leveling.
Engine stalls easily with mower blades engaged.
1. Engine speed too slow.

When servicing the tractor or mower deck, disengage PTO, remove
ignition key, set parking brake and disconnect the spark plug wires.
Solution
1. See "Mower deck adjustment".
2. See "Regular maintenance" section.
1. Set to full throttle.
2. Slow down.
3. Sharpen or replace blades. See "Servicing the mower blades".
4. Clean or replace belt as necessary.
5. See "PTO clutch adjustment".
6. See "Servicing the mower blades".
7. See "Check mower blade timing".
8. Clean out tube.
9. Clean out underside of mower deck.
10. Empty catcher.
11. See mower deck leveling procedures in "Adjustments and service" section.
1. Set to full throttle.
2. Slow down.
3. Cut tall grass at maximum cutting height during first pass.
4. Clean out tube.
5. Clean out underside of mower deck.
6. Empty catcher.
