If the heating cable can not be fixed to a reinforcement mesh, the installer should use the plastic spacer (for asphalt
metal VIA-SPACER) or other fixing method to keep the cable spacing consistent.
Slab preparation & reinforcement
•
In the case of a concrete slab, the mesh or reinforcement bar must be ad equately supported so that it is not
disturbed during the concrete pour.
•
The reinforcement must be positioned so that the heating cable will be 50 mm below the surface of the concrete.
•
The reinforcement must be positioned at the correct distance below the surface of the concrete to within ± 1 cm.
•
Where mesh is used, it must be strong enough that it will not "droop" when walked on for the installation of the
heating cable. Use a mesh grid of at least 50 mm. A grid spacing of 100 mm is most practical.
•
Where a reinforcement bar is used, arrange its spacing to match the requirement of the heating cable spacing.
