j) Switching the Engine on/off
General information on combustion engines
At commissioning of the new engine, a certain run-in time must be complied with. During this time, engine
parts are tuned to one another, whereby maximal capacity is reached and premature wear is prevented.
Breaking in therefore needs to be performed very carefully!
For more information about breaking in, see chapter 8. h) and 8. i).
Starting
The vehicle's wheels should turn freely. Place the vehicle on a suitable car stand.
• Hold the muffler closed and pull the cable starter several times slowly to suck fuel into the carburettor.
Do this until there are no more visible air bubbles in the transparent hose between the tank and carburettor and the
fuel just about reaches the carburettor.
Attention!
Do not pull out the cable starter all the way but only to a maximum of 3/4 of its length. Determine the rope
length by slow extension (without the glow plug ignition being plugged on!).
Do not use any force for pulling out!
When pulling out is too difficult, the engine is "drowned"; observe the section "Remove duel when the engine
has drowned" on the next page for this.
• Place the plug starter on the glow plug with the battery fully charged. Observe tight fit of the connection clamp of the
glow plug started on the glow plug.
• Now pull the cable pull starter through until the engine starts up. Hold the model with your other hand. However,
never reach into the drive when holding the model, since it may start up due to engaging of the sliding clutch. Risk
of injury!
• Once the motor is running, let go of the cable starter and remove the glow plug starter from the glow plug.
Only leave the glow-plug starter connected briefly for starting. Otherwise, the glow plug may burn through
prematurely.
• If the pull starter can only be actuated with a lot of force after several unsuccessful start attempts, too much fuel got
into the combustion chamber and the crankcase. The engine was "flooded".
Refrain from further starting attempts and remove the excess fuel in order to prevent damaging the cable pull starter
and the engine.
