10. Programming the Speed Controller

a) Flashing Signals of the Speed Controller LED
• LED is permanently lit in the neutral position of the throttle/brake lever at the transmitter
Crawler mode is active. This is the wrong operating mode for the vehicle. Switch the speed controller to regular
mode; see chapter 10. c).
• LED flashes in the neutral position of the throttle/brake lever at the transmitter
Normal mode is active. This is the right operating mode for the vehicle.
• Forward/reverse driving
The more power the speed controller emits to the motor, the faster will the red LED at the speed controller flash.
The LED flashes very quickly at full throttle.
b) Programming the Undervoltage Recognition
The speed controller permits using a 6-cell NiMH drive battery (rated voltage 7.2 V) or a 2-cell LiPo drive battery
(rated voltage 7.4 V).
A 6-cell NiMH drive battery is part of the delivery scope of the vehicle. A LiPo drive battery can be ordered
as an accessory.
Due to the higher capacity of the rechargeable battery, the LiPo drive battery permits a longer driving
duration.
Attention!
The enclosed plug-in charger is only suitable for charging 6-cell NiMH drive batteries. A LiPo drive battery
must not be charged with it! There is a risk of fire and explosion!
If you want to purchase and use a LiPo drive battery for the vehicle, you therefore also need a suitable LiPo
charger. Observe that it has a balancer installed.
As described in chapter 7, a balancer prevents overcharging of a single LiPo cell by inspection and cor-
rection of the individual cell voltages. When overcharging a LiPo cell (max. cell voltage 4.24 V), the LiPo
battery may bloat or even catch fire or explode!
If a 2-cell LiPo drive battery is used for the vehicle, check before each drive whether the undervoltage recognition of
the speed controller is switched on.
After activation of the speed controller, it will emit a sound signal.
Sound signal „ • - - -":
Sound signal „• • - - -": Undervoltage recognition on (required for LiPo drive battery)
The sound signal is generated because the motor is activated for a moment.
Undervoltage recognition switched off (basic setting, for NiMH drive battery)
