6) Check the gearbox oil (85W90 oil – fig. 4, no. 15).
7) Add oil into the oil-bath air filter (for versions provided with an oil-bath filter). You can use the
engine oil (see engine manual).
8) Check the tyre pressure: 4.00 – 8 2 PLY RATING at 1,1 bar.
9) Adjust the clutch cable: when the red lever is pressed the clutch spring (fig. 4, no. 18) must be
tensioned.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
WHAT TO CHECK BEFORE STARTING THE MACHINE
- All nuts and screws must be well secured.
- IMPORTANT: the PTO lever (fig. 6, no. 8) must be located backwards into position "PTO STOP".
- The reverse gear lever (fig. 6, no.6) must be in neutral position "N".
- The air filter (version with dry air filter) must be thoroughly clean (fig. 5A). Caution: Do not blow
compressed air into the cartridge. If this is clogged, it must be replaced.
- The air filter (version with oil-bath filter) must be thoroughly clean and the oil level correct (fig. 5).
- Fill the tank with fuel (fig. 6, no. 13) using a funnel with a very fine filter.
- All accessories must be properly connected to the walking tractor (fig. 7).
- Set the handlebar at a comfortable height (fig. 2, no. 11).
- Turn the wheel shaft lever (fig. 3, no.12) right to connect the wheel shaft to the gearbox
STARTING THE ENGINE
Turn on the fuel cock (fig. 6, no. 16), push the throttle lever to the midway position (fig. 6, no. 10)
and engage the choke if the engine is cold (fig. 6, no. 17). Start the engine by pulling hard on the
recoil starter (fig. 6, no. 14).
STARTING THE MACHINE
- Set the reverse gear lever (fig. 6, no. 6) in the ahead position. The machine moves by pressing
the grey safety button (fig. 6, no. 2) and then pressing the red clutch lever (fig. 6, no.1).
- To engage the rotary tiller, set the PTO lever (fig. 6, no. 8) in the ahead position. CAUTION:
never put your hands and feet under the rotary tiller when it's working, nor open the tiller safety
door. This door must adhere to the ground to ensure safe use of the tiller and good levelling of the
tilled ground.
- To disengage the rotary tiller set the PTO lever (fig. 6, no. 8) in the "PTO STOP" position. In
case of danger immediately release the red clutch lever (fig. 6, no. 1).
- The Grillo G46 has one forward gear and one reverse gear. To engage the reverse gear:
a) release the red clutch lever (fig. 6, no. 1).
b) pull the PTO lever (fig. 6, no. 8) backwards into position "PTO STOP".
c) set the reverse gear lever (fig. 6, no. 6) backwards.
d) to make the walking tractor move press the grey safety button (fig. 6, no. 2) and depress the red
clutch lever (fig. 6, no. 1). IMPORTANT: for safety reasons the rotary tiller can be used in forward
gear only. It is NOT possible to use the rotary tiller in neutral position "N" or in reverse gear.
The operator can stop the rotary tiller at any moment (both the rotation and the forward gear) by
releasing the red clutch lever (fig. 6, no. 1). The engine will keep running. IMPORTANT: To avoid
any damage to the clutch during the functioning of the machine, please keep the red lever
firmly pressed. Do not use the machine whilst only partially depressing the red lever.
If the machine has to be transferred or transported always disengage the PTO.
HOW TO ADJUST THE HANDLEBAR
To adjust the height of the handlebar unlock the lever (fig. 6, no. 11), raise or lower the handlebar
then release the lever to lock the handlebar in the desired position. To turn the handlebar pull the
lever (fig. 6, no. 4), move the handlebar to the right or to the left and then release the lever to lock
the handlebar in the desired position.
HOW TO SWITCH OFF THE ENGINE
Set the throttle lever into "0" position (fig. 6, no. 10).
