2. Outer Welding Shield Pivot Ring and Hinge: Remove the outer welding shield (see "Inspection & Maintenance", #1 "Welding Helmet Shell"). On
each side of the welding shield is a pivot ring and spring-loaded hinge. To remove and reattach the outer welding shield hinges and pivot rings:
a. Remove the hinge by unclipping from the post on the welding shield and the pivot ring.
NOTE: Both of the hinges and pivot rings are exactly alike – there is no RIGHT or LEFT so keeping track of which side they come off of is not
necessary.
b. Grasp the pivot ring by its pivot point and pry it off its circular post. There are small ridges that help keep the ring in place, so a small amount
of upward pressure may be necessary (Fig. 26a).
c. To install the new pivot ring and hinge, position the pivot ring with small pivot post facing toward the ADF. There are two small stops for the
pivot ring – the post goes between these stops. Press the pivot ring over its large circular post, pressing firmly until it "snaps" into place
(Fig. 26b). If installed correctly the pivot ring will pivot freely up and down about 60-degrees.
