9 – Mode of operation
Working with the belt sander
Before starting work, check the setting to
ensure that the appropriate belt speed for
the material has been chosen.
Hold the machine with both hands
parallel to the surface. Switch on before
making contact with the material.
Carefully place on the surface to be
sanded and move backwards and
forwards. Do not apply excess pressure,
the weight of the machine itself is
sufficient. Applying too much pressure
will worsen the results of the sanding
process and damage the engine.
Always process wood in the direction
of the grain. As long as the machine is
in contact with the work piece, do not
switch the machine off. When carrying
out several sanding processes using
different granulations (Figure 9), always
start with the coarsest. Ensure that
no bends are introduced into the belt
when sanding. Never use the same belt
to process different types of material.
When changing materials, for example,
from metal to wood, always fit a new
sanding belt.
Stationary operation
The belt sander may also be used in
stationary operation for certain tasks. To
do this, the belt sander may be secured
using clips (not included in the scope of
delivery) to a stable surface, for example,
a workbench.
CAUTION! Make sure that the
surface is safe and does not
wobble.
CAUTION! Always secure the belt
sander with both clips to ensure it
is wobble free.

CAUTION! In stationary operation,
always use the „Continuous
operation" switch position.
CAUTION! In stationary operation,
always work with the greatest
of attention. There is a risk of injury to
hands and fingers by slipping on the work
piece.
CAUTION! The smaller the work
piece, the higher the risk of injury
when sanding! Only sand work pieces
that can be held and guided safely with
both hands. If necessary, use other
sanding methods.
CAUTION! Hold work pieces with
both hands when sanding.
10 – Maintenance and
environmental
protection
CAUTION! Unplug from the
power source!
Keep the ventilation slots free and
remove dust regularly with a brush.
Clean the housing with a damp cloth
only - do not use solvents! Then dry
well. After completing work, wash the
emptied dust collection box in mild,
hand-hot, soapy water and allow to dry
well.
Have any other maintenance work
carried out by a specialist.
CAUTION! Electrical and battery
operated units that no longer
work should not be disposed of in
the household waste! They are to be
collected separately, in accordance with
the 2012/19 EU directive for
the disposal of electrical
and electronic waste, and
sent for proper and environ-
mentally-friendly recycling.
