Identify the size of the glow plug to be removed: M8 or M10
(fig. 3)
Choose the correct extraction tool among those included in the tool
set: M8-M10 (fig. 4).
The tool uses the glow plug's hexagon as the point of strength for
locking to it, to remove it in the best possible way.
To do this, the two parts of the tool involved in grasping the glow
plug are the external body (fig. 4 ref.
B
(fig. 4 ref.
) : they are axially integral with one another and
can rotate exactly 30° so that their front hexagonal holes will be
in phase with each other in one position, or rotated 30° so that the
two hexagons will cross one another exactly.
When you set the safety lever on the tool's body to "LOCK" (fig. 5),
this will lock the rotation of the two internal hexagons which grasp
the glow plug.
Keep the closing bushing loose during the inserting and positioning
steps and then tighten it to lock the internal key paying attention to
keep the "lock" lever locked until the operation is finished (fig. 5).
Assemble the guide 1952 003 214 or 1952 003 221 to the
adapter 1952 003 554 and to the slide hammer and then secure
the tool on the bushing (fig. 7).
Use the sliding hammer to remove the glow plug through repeated
blows from bottom to top.
Avoid extremely violent blows which could break the glow plug
head (fig. 8).
Keep the tool on the glow plug axis unit it comes out all the way, to
avoid breaking the glow plug until it has been fully removed from
its seat (fig. 9).
BLOCKED GLOW PLUGS REMOVAL
Use the "roller" extractor suitable (among the three supplied Ø2.5 -
Ø3.5 - Ø4) to remove the terminal part of the electrode of the spark
plug (fig. 10, 11).
