[13] Central control knob
All parameters are set with the rotary central
control knob:
traction force, traction force hold time, base
force, base force hold time, changeover speed,
treatment time.
The value can be reduced by turning the knob
to the left, and increased by turning the knob
to the right. The knob has no start or stop po-
sitions and is coupled to the parameter indi-
cated by a lit green LED. The set value of the
parameter is indicated on the corresponding
display. The range of settings is determined by
the parameter selected (see also remark under
[2]).
[14] Start/stop selector
Treatment can only start when the following con-
ditions are met:
a) the patient stop switch is connected,
b) the treatment time is set.
The start of treatment is indicated by the LED
in the selector [15] changing from red to green.
If condition a is not met, the buzzer sounds
when the start/stop push-button is pressed.
Treatment can be interrupted before the end of
the treatment time by pressing the start/stop
push-button. The traction force is then reduced
to the minimum at a speed corresponding to
the changeover speed. The LED in the push-
button then changes from green to red.
[15] Start/stop LED
Before treatment starts, or if treatment is inter-
rupted, the LED in the start/stop selector push-
button [14] lights red. When treatment starts
the LED lights green.
[16] Socket for patient stop switch
The patient stop switch must be connected to
this socket (see [20]).
Treatment cannot start unless the patient stop
switch has been connected. The switch should
be handed to the patient, and its use should
be explained.
22
This selector is used to start and stop
treatment.
If it is pressed during treatment, the traction
force will be reduced to the minimum value of
15 N at the maximum changeover speed, and
the buzzer will sound. The unelapsed treatment
time continues to be indicated on the display,
Connection of a patient stop switch other than
that prescribed by ENRAF-NONIUS can ad-
versely affect the safety of the patient and
the functioning of the unit, and is therefore
not permitted.
[17] Socket for remote control
A remote control unit, which replaces the
function of the central control knob [13], can
be connected to this socket. The remote con-
trol unit is an optional accessory (please con-
sult our catalogue).
Connection of a remote control other than
that prescribed by ENRAF-NONIUS can ad-
versely affect the safety of the patient and
the functioning of the unit, and is therefore
not permitted
[18] Pulley
The pulley ensures optimum guidance of the
cord for traction at any required angle.
[19] Cord
The cord can be wound into the ELTRAC 471,
or paid out, thus increasing or decreasing the
traction force when the cord is attached to the
patient. The free end of the cord is provided
with a carabin hook for easy attachment of ac-
cessories.
The cord used to apply the traction can be easily
adjusted to the required length. A special
tensioning, system ensures that a minimum ten-
sion of 15 N (1.5 kg) is always applied to the
cord. This enables the cord to be paid out eas-
ily, and ensures that it rolls up automatically
when released.
The cord must be attached to the carabin hook
by means of a knot capable of withstanding
considerable traction, without coming undone.
A suitable knot is shown in the figure below.
