Operating Instructions R8/17R to R40/17R and R8/17R+ to R20/17R+

Note:
BECKER tubular drives are designed for short-time operation (S2/KB 4 min). A fitted thermo protection switch
prevents overheating of the tubular drive. During commissioning (long drop distance or long running time),
triggering of the thermoswitch may occur. The drive is then switched off. After a short cooling-down period,
the system is ready for operation again.
Operating time will be shorter if the drive has not yet completely cooled down.
To remove the drive or to clear the internal memory, you will again need the BECKER handset for drives with electronic limit
switching. You can then reset the tubular drive to its factory default settings (RESET), e.g. in order to:
- repeat the installation
- remove the drive
- set a new drop distance
- operate a defective drive in emergency mode
To clear the end positions stored during installation, press the programming key
cleared by audibly clicking twice. The tubular drive can then be driven in either direction for any distance, as long as the upper
limit has not been reached and been recognized by the tubular drive.
In the event of a faulty drive, pressing RESET will switch the programme to fault mode without clicking (this is for service only).
During fault mode, obstruction detection is not active. The fault mode may only be used when disassembling the drive.
To re-adjust the limit positions, please proceed as described on page 16.
A properly installed drive switches off if it detects shutter obstructions or disturbances. The following are detected:
A shutter pile-up when moving down due to objects on the window sill or due to the side guide rails jamming
Extremely large increase in load in the upward direction (e.g. ice on the end strip)
Tubular drive overload
To avoid excessively sensitive deactivation the drive responds to an obstruction only one to two turns after the impact.
Disturbances
The electronic limit switching system constantly monitors the drive. The following table shows you potential disturbances and
how the drive responds.
In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions check to make sure the
anti- lifting security devices, if fitted, are operating properly. They must be
securely engaged and be pressing the shutter onto the window sill. The lock-
ing straps must press the top lath against the shutter box in an upright posi-
tion (Fig. 12).
