The tubular drives of types R8/17R to R40/17R and R8/17R+ to R20/17R+ are intended exclusively for the operation of roller
shutters. For roller shutters which are attached to the barrel with springs, please use types R8/17R to R40/17R.
Tubular drives R8/17R+ to R20/17R+ support not only attachment to the barrel with springs but also mechanical anti-lifting
security devices, for example, those made by Zurfluh-Feller, Simu, GAH Alberts or Deprat. These are recognised automatically.
Do not screw or rivet the suspension springs or the top slat to the roller shutter tube as the R+ drive could recognise this as an
anti-lifting device.
For sun protection applications please use types R8/17S to R120/11S. For reasons of product liability, other applications of
these drives are only permitted with the prior approval of BECKER-Antriebe GmbH.
If the controls and drives are used for other purposes than those specified above, or if modifications are made to the equipment,
which affect the safety of the system, then the manufacturer or supplier will not accept any liability for possible injuries or
damages occurred to persons or to property, nor for any consequential damages.
For operation or possible repair of the system, these operating instructions must be adhered to. In the event of improper
handling, the manufacturer or supplier will not accept liability for possible injuries or damages to persons or to property, nor
for any consequential damages.

Operating Instructions R8/17R to R40/17R and R8/17R+ to R20/17R+
Intended Use
Mounting Instructions
Before starting work the installer must make sure that the brickwork and roller
shutter box are strong enough (to cope with the torque of the drive plus the
weight of the shutter).
Caution
Electrical connections should only be performed by a qualified
electrician. Disconnect the mains supply before installation.
Please give the attached information on electrical connections
to the responsible electrician.
1. Determine the lateral space requirement (M) of the head piece, the limit
switch collar and the motor bracket, in order to calculate the required
length of the barrel. The clear dimension of the roller shutter casing (X)
minus the total length from the wall bracket, head piece (M) and limit
switch collar (G) gives the length (L) of the barrel:
L = X- (G + M).
Measure the distance from the wall bracket and the connecting head itself,
as these may vary depending on the combination of drive and bracket.
G
2. Fix the wall bracket and limit switch collar.
If roller shutters with locking straps are used, the wall bracket and limit
switch collar must be fixed permanently to the wall and secured against
lifting/pushing up. Only use suitable brackets and lath for this.
Please observe the following points when installing the drive:
• Undoing the mounting pin
The mounting pin locks into place automatically when pushed in. To undo
the mounting pin either insert the screwdriver into the hole and then push
upwards, or push into the groove with a screwdriver (Fig. 3).
