THERMOSTAT AND EXHAUST COVER
CHECKING THE THERMOSTAT
1. Check:
• Thermostat
Stick/damage
2. Measure:
• Valve opening temperature
• Valve lift
Out of specification
Water temperature
Below 48 - 52 °C
(118 - 126 °F)
Above 60 °C
(140 °F)
Measuring steps:
(1)Suspend the thermostat in a container
filled with water.
(2)Place a thermostat in the water.
(3)Slowly heat the water.
(4)While stirring the water, check that the
thermostat opens at the specified
temperature.
INSTALLING THE EXHAUST INNER
COVER AND OUTER COVER
Install:
• Exhaust inner cover and outer cover
NOTE:
Tighten the exhaust cover mounting bolts in
sequence and in two steps of torque.
Exhaust cover mounting bolt:
1st: 3 N•m (0.3 kgf•m, 2.2 ft•lb)
2nd: 8 N•m (0.8 kgf•m, 5.8 ft•lb)
