SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Hu-Friedy & EMS and the dealer of this product accept no liability for direct or consequential injury or
damage resulting from improper use, arising in particular through non-observance of the operation
instructions, or improper preparation and maintenance.
Use for the intended purpose only. Before using the product, make sure that the manual has been
read. This also applies to any equipment used with this product. Failure to observe the operation instruc-
tions may result in the patient or user suffering serious injury or the product being damaged, possibly
beyond repair.
Risk of explosion: Do not use this product in the presence of inflammable anaesthetics or gases.
This product must be used only by trained and qualified personnel (dentist or dental hygienist).
Before each use, clean and sterilize the different pieces and accessories of this product (PERIO-
FLOW Nozzles excepted). Please refer to the information provided in the operation instructions. Non-sterile
pieces and accessories may cause bacterial or viral infections.
Use only the powder recommended by Hu-Friedy & EMS for the subgingival application when
using the AIR-FLOW handy PERIO. Any other powder could cause premature wear of the PERIO-FLOW
Nozzle and would increase the risk of emphysema and damage to the unenameled dentine.
The single use PERIO-FLOW Nozzle must be used for one single patient only. Never reuse a
nozzle because treatment will be ineffective and the risk of emphysema will increase.
Do not use AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO handpiece with PERIO-FLOW Nozzle immediately after
subgingival cleaning (Ultrasonic or hand instrumentation).
The powders provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS are especially designed for use with the unit. Do
not use powders from other manufacturers as this could damage the unit or could adversely affect its
efficiency.
Never use "Abrasive Powder" in the unit as this would damage it.
Always examine the product for damage before starting the treatment. Damaged accessories or
a damaged device must not be used and must be replaced. Use original Hu-Friedy & EMS spare parts
and accessories only.
Have this product exclusively repaired by an approved Hu-Friedy & EMS repair center.
