SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Hu-Friedy & EMS and the distributor of this product accept no liability for direct or consequential injury
or damage resulting from improper use, arising in particular through non-observance of the operating
instructions, or improper preparation and maintenance.
Contraindication: ultrasonic oscillations may prevent cardiac pace makers functioning properly.
Therefore, we recommend that patients with a cardiac pace maker should not be treated with this
product.
Use for the intended purpose only: Before using the product, make sure that you have studied
and understood the operating instructions. This also applies to any equipment used with this product.
Failure to observe the operating instructions may result in the patient or user suffering serious injury
or the product being damaged, possibly beyond repair.
Risk of explosion: Do not use this product in the presence of infl ammable anaesthetics or gases.
This product must be used only by trained and qualifi ed personnel.
Always examine the product for damage before starting treatment. Damaged accessories or
a damaged unit must not be used and must be replaced. Use original Hu-Friedy & EMS spare parts
and accessories only.
Have this product exclusively repaired by an approved Hu-Friedy & EMS repair center.
Before each use, disinfect, clean and sterilize the different pieces and accessories of this
product. Please refer to the information provided in the operating instructions. Non-sterile pieces and
accessories may cause bacterial or viral infections.
Never use this unit on metal or porcelain restorations, unless the instruments are intended
specifi cally for this purpose. The high frequency ultrasonic oscillations may loosen the restoration.
This product has been investigated with regard to safety from electrical shock and fi re hazard.
CSA (Canadian Standard Association) has not investigated physiological effects.
The powders provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS are especially designed for use with the unit. Do
not use powders from other manufacturers as this could damage the unit or could adversely affect
its effi ciency.
Never use "Hu-Friedy & EMS Abrasive Powder" in the unit, as this would damage it.
