11. Comparative building material
moisture values
The results of measurements using the resistance method to eval-
uate building materials can only be used as orientation values for
the measurement of moisture.
Deduction of the absolute moisture in mass-percent (M-%) is only
possible for such measurements determined under the same mar-
ginal conditions and building material compositions as in the test
structure of diagram 1.
This diagram has been created in collaboration with the Institute
of Building Materials Research, Aachen University (Institut für
Bauforschung der RWTH Aachen - IBAC) and represents the in-
terrelationship between the measured values and the mass-re-
lated moisture content of the examined building material. The rep-
resentation of the technical measurement results in a diagram
allows a comparison between measured value and actual moisture
content to be made. The selection is limited to the commonest min-
eral building materials. The measured values are based on a ref-
erence temperature of 23 °C.
