10. Carrying out measurements
The measuring spikes must be attached to the device before using
it for the first time. To this end, loosen the two cap nuts, push one
measuring spike from underneath into the apron of each cap nut and
screw them onto the device again.
Measuring the moisture content of wood
To perform a measurement on a piece of timber, the following
work steps must be carried out:
1. Switch on the device and wait until the calibration procedure
is completed.

2. Activate the measurement method by setting the sensor mode
to "Mode 120" (wood moisture measurement).
3. Enter the wood type code for the type of wood being measured.
A selection of corresponding wood type codes can be found in
the wood type directory included.
4. Enter the temperature of the wood. (this temperature value
can be checked by means of a pyrometer if necessary).
5. Select the measurement position.
The measurement should basically be carried out at a location
where there are no visible faults (e.g. splits, resin pockets,
knots).
