VIII. Troubleshooting
Generally, check all lines and connections to and from the unit .
Check the settings on the unit's knobs . Although service and repair
of the BioSonic US200 ultrasonic scaler should be performed by
authorized personnel, the following are some basic troubleshooting
procedures that may help avoid unnecessary service calls .

Potential Solution
Ensure the power cord is fully seated in the
receptacle on the power adapter .
Ensure the power adapter cord is fully seated
in the DC receptacle on the back of the unit .
Ensure the power cord is plugged into an
active and appropriate AC receptacle .
Ensure the power knob is in the ON position by
checking that the power knob is not rotated
fully counterclockwise . Knob should "click"
when rotated clockwise, turning power on .
Ensure the power adapter being used is the
one shipped with the unit .
Release the footswitch and reengage . The unit
will not activate if the footswitch is depressed
when the unit is turned on .
Ensure the handpiece connector is fully seated
in the receptacle on the front of the unit . A
"click" will be felt when it is properly inserted .
Ensure the footswitch is fully inserted in the
receptacle in the back of the unit . A "click" will
be felt when it is properly inserted . Inspect the
footswitch and cord for any obvious damage .
Ensure an appropriate 25 kHz or 30 kHz insert
is fully seated in the handpiece .
Ensure adequate water flow to the handpiece .
Replace the insert . It may be worn, clogged, or
damaged .
Potential Solution
Ensure adequate water flow to the
handpiece . Ensure water supply to the back of
the unit is properly connected and not kinked
or pinched . Ensure water filter is not clogged .
If clogged, replace with new filter . Adjust water
control knob on front of unit until an appropri-
ate mist is observed .
Ensure an appropriate 25 kHz or 30 kHz insert
is fully seated in the handpiece .
Reduce power setting .
Replace the insert . It may be worn, clogged, or
damaged .
