4. START-UP
4.4. Variable frequency drive
The programming and adjustment of the parameters of the VFD may only be carried out
by qualified personnel who are in possession of the technical manuals of the installed
VFD. Failure to do so may result in serious physical and material damage.
The VFD fitted to Franklin Electric pressure pumps leave the factory fully checked, programmed
and ready for use according to the operating characteristics specified in each order, so that they generally do not
require any subsequent adjustment for basic use.
For any modification to the programming of the VFD to be carried out in the installation, please consult the user
manual of the VFD or contact Franklin Electric.
4.5. Regulation of pressure switches
Due to the different needs and conditions of each installation, it is necessary to adjust the settings of all
pressure switches in the pressure pump for proper operation.
The operation of all pressure switches is based on the same system: a screw regulates the maximum
pressure (marked with the letter "P") and a nut regulates the difference between the maximum pressure
and the minimum pressure. By turning these screws clockwise or counter clockwise, the actuating range
can be set, always within the limits corresponding to each particular pressure switch (see information plate
on the pressure switch).
Check in the installation documentation and in your order for the set pressure and the flow rate per pump to
be provided by the equipment, and verify that these values are within the application range of the pumps.
From this set pressure, the pressure switches shall be adjusted in the following steps:
a) Slightly open the delivery valve to fully reduce the pressure in the manifold, which will cause the pressure
switches to reset regardless of their previous setting, and close this valve again. To ensure that the discharge
pressure does not increase, make sure that there is water consumption at some point.
b) On each of the pump start and stop pressure switches, turn the screw "P" in the corresponding direction
to increase the stop pressure (marked +) to its upper limit, and then turn the differential pressure nut in the
corresponding direction to increase this pressure difference also to its upper limit.
