3 - CARBURATION AND FUEL SUPPLY
"7 different carburettors have been fitted with recommendations from the manufacturers:
solex: 26MHD bronze with valve or shutter
solex: 26BFHD zamak
solex: 26HBFD zamak
solex: 26AHD zamak and latest
zenith evolution : 26 TH zamak
zenith: 26 UH "
Source: Forum: '' -which carburetor? ''
The 5 HP were fitted with Solex carburettors. The solex 26 MHD in bronze is the simplest, the most beautiful
but the least fuel efficient! the fitting of a Solex 26 AHD zamak carburetor is recommended; Zenith also
proposed a similar replacement: the 26TH
The first Solex, in bronze, were replaced by more sophisticated Solex or Zénith carburettors in zamak, equipped
with a choke and a richness screw, therefore less fuel-intensive and less fouling. . These carburetors are simple,
virtually maintenance free and easy to disassemble.
In particular, check the play of the air shutter shaft in the body of the carburetor. If this play is too important,
do not hesitate to ring this axis.
The adjustment is made when hot by acting on the air screw which controls the throttle, to bring the engine to
normal idle speed. Loosen the mixture screw, in order to obtain maximum acceleration. When the motor begins
to stammer, screw slightly and leave it alone.
Loosen the idle screw to return to normal speed.
Do not forget that an air inlet at the level of the intake pipe (if the latter is poorly tightened or if the carburetor
is poorly tightened on the pipe) does not allow normal operation of the carburation.

Checking the spray nozzles etc.
Scrupulously check the jets, points and especially the nozzles / diffusers against the tables above; very often
these parts come from other cars with slightly different settings and therefore do not work correctly.
If the engine is rebored from 55 to 57 mm, the engine displacement increases by 7.5%; This increases the
volume of air required for carburization; the 16 nozzle must then be rebored from 0.2 to 0.3 mm
