In the case of standing seamed trays, the fastening
plates of the travflex™ 2 lifeline consist of (fig. 9,

Rep. 3: Two M16 stainless steelwashers in.
Rep. 4: An HM16 stainless steel lock nut.
Rep. 12: 4 equipped clamps (clamp, 1 HM8 and 3 CHC
M10 screws)
4. Prohibited use
Safety will be ensured by using the travflex™ 2
mounting plates in compliance with the requirements
detailed in this manual. However, the installer should
always be aware of the following incorrect usage and
installation practices.
IT IS FORBIDDEN:
1. to install travflex™ 2 mounting plates by an
unqualified technician, under the responsibility of a
qualified, skilled supervisor,
2. to install a travflex™ 2 mounting plate when any
marking is not present or not legible (see §7),
3. to use travflex™ 2 mounting plates for any purpose
other than that described in this manual,
4. to install travflex™ 2 mounting plates on a structure
for which a preliminary study (see §5.1) has not
been carried out or for which the conclusions of the
study are unfavourable to installation of the lifeline,
5. to install travflex™ 2 mounting plates in any way
other than that described in this manual,
6. to install travflex™ 2 mounting plates in an
explosible atmosphere,
7. to install travflex™ 2 mounting plates in a highly
corrosive atmosphere,
8. to perform repairs on mounting plates without
having been trained and qualified for this purpose
in writing by Tractel
9. to install travflex™ 2 mounting plates on a mounting
plane with slope exceeding 15° with respect to the
horizontal,
10. to install mounting plates for installation of a
travflex™ 2 lifeline on a horizontal or slanted
mounting plane with cable deviation angle in the

mounting plane exceeding 10° when passing
through an intermediate anchor or a turn anchor,
11. to install mounting plates for travflex™ 2 lifeline on
a vertical mounting plane with cable deviation angle
on the mounting plane exceeding 15° when passing
through an intermediate anchor,
12. to install a mounting plate for installation of a
travflex™ 2 turn having a breaking strength less
than 20 kN,
13. to install a lifeline or anchor point not manufactured
by Tractel
on travflex™ 2 mounting plates,

14. to install mounting plates for travflex™ 2 lifeline
having an interval distance between anchors
exceeding 15 m,
15. to use components other than genuine Tractel
travflex™ 2 components,
16. to install a travflex™ 2 mounting plate on a roof or
siding with breaking strength less than that of the
mounting plate (table page 9),
17. to install a travflex™ 2 mounting plate at a distance
greater than 500 mm from a support structure,
18. to use rivets which are not genuine Tractel
products.
5. Installation
5.1. Preliminary study
A preliminary study must be carried out by a
specialised technician to ensure the strength of the
materials prior to installation of the travflex™ 2
mounting plates. The study must be supported by
a design memo and take account of all applicable
regulations, standards and trade practices, as well
as the information contained in this manual and the
installation manuals for the lifeline, the anchor points
and the ringflex anchor ring, both with regards to the
lifeline as well as the PPE connected to the lifeline.
This manual must be delivered to the technician or the
design office responsible for the preliminary study.

required for installation of your mounting plates, your
lifeline, your anchor points and your ringflex anchor
ring and will also study any special installation needs
for your travflex™ 2 system. Tractel
provide you with the necessary PPE for protection
against falls from height and assist you in your
installation and installation project needs.
5.2. Requirements prior to installation
The installer and contractor, if it is not the installer,
must obtain this manual and the preliminary study and
ensure that it addresses all the aforementioned points.
