In particular, make sure that the preliminary study has
fully taken account of all applicable regulations and
standards as regards the PPE, the lifelines, the anchor
points and the structural anchors.
The mounting plates, lifeline, anchor points and
ringflex anchor point must be installed in compliance
with the preliminary study submitted to the installer.
The installation must also be preceded by a visual
inspection of the site by the installer, who will verify that
the site configuration is consistent with that taken into
account in the preliminary study, if the installer is not the
author. The installer should have the skills required to
implement the preliminary study in accordance with the
standard good practices.
Prior to carrying out this work, the installer should
organise the site so that the work is carried out in
compliance with safety requirements, particularly
in terms of employment regulations. Individual or
collective protection should be set up for that purpose.
Checks should be run to verify that the equipment to be
installed complies in terms of type and quantity with the
equipment described in the preliminary study.
5.3. Preliminary checks before
installation
1. The distances between the mounting plates along
the entire path of the lifeline are between 5 and
15 m.
2. All the necessary components are available in
sufficient quantity to ensure compliance of the
installation with the specifications of this manual.
3. 1. The tools required for the installation of plates
on steel and sandwich trays are available, and in
particular:
• 1 screwing-unscrewing drilling machine (fig. 6,
item. 1).
• 1 end cap for 8mm H-head screws (fig. 6, item. 2).
• 1 8 mm diameter steel drill bit (fig. 6, item. 3).
• 1 riveting pliers (fig. 6, item. 4).
• 1 end cap for riveting pliers for 7.7 mm rivets (fig. 6,
item. 5).
• 2 x 24 spanners for M16. (Fig. 6, item. 6).
2. The tools required for installing the plates
on standing seamed trays are available and in
particular:
• 1 screwing-unscrewing drilling machine (fig. 7,
item. 1).
• 1 hand held power screwdriver (fig. 7, item. 1).
• 1 torque wrench (fig. 7, item. 3).
• 1 size 13 H head screwdriver tip (fig. 7, item. 4).
• 1 size 8 CHC head screwdriver tip (fig. 7, item. 5).
• 2 × 24 spanners for M16 (fig. 6, item. 6).
4. Markings on mounting plates are present and
legible.
5. All parts forming the travflex™ 2 mounting plate are
free of any signs of deformation and/or significant
corrosion.
"DANGER": If any anomaly is observed during
these checks, the component of the travflex™ 2
mounting plate concerned must be set aside to prevent
any use and must be repaired by a trained and qualified
technician.
5.4. Installation of mounting plates

5.4.1. General information

The travflex™ 2 mounting plates for intermediate
anchors must be installed at intervals of between 5 and
15 meters, using end and turn anchor plates where
necessary. If the travflex™ 2 lifeline does not use an
intermediate anchor, the distance between the end
anchor plates and the turn anchor plates must also
be between 5 and 15 meters. The mounting plates of
the travflex™ 2 lifeline can be secured either on an
horizontal mounting plane or on a slanted plane with
slope not exceeding 15° with respect to the horizontal,
or on a vertical mounting plane (fig. 13).
Furthermore, when installing on a horizontal or slanted
mounting plane, the installer must position the mounting
plates so that the cable of the travflex™ 2 lifeline
does not deflect by an angle greater than 10° in the
mounting plane when passing through an intermediate
anchor (fig. 13). When installing the system on a
vertical mounting plane, the installer must position the
mounting plates so that the travflex™ 2 lifeline cable
does not deflect by an angle greater than 15° in the
mounting plane when passing through an intermediate
anchor (fig. 13).
Depending on the mounting plates defined by the
preliminary study for the lifeline, the anchor points and
the ringflex anchor ring, the installer must secure the
mounting plates in compliance with the requirements
detailed in this manual. The breaking strength of the
mounting plates must be at least 15 kN for the end
anchors, the intermediate anchors and the ringflex
anchor rings, and at least 20 kN for the turn anchors
(see chapter 3).
"IMPORTANT": The installer must ensure and
identify the correspondence between the holes of the
multi-tray and the corrugation of the tray. They must
also know the thickness of the tray.
"NOTE": In order to facilitate the installation of the
plates on the trays it is strongly advised to identify the
holes necessary for the installation of the plates on the
trays using a marker.
