PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Merit Medical Rad Board Xtra™ is a rigid PVC board designed to be used in conjunction with
the Merit Medical Rad Board® (sold separately). The Rad Board Xtra is reversible, reusable, and
non-sterile (Figure 1).
INDICATIONS FOR USE
The Rad Board Xtra is designed to be used in conjunction with the Rad Board to facilitate
perpendicular placement of the arm for vascular access, as well as provide an additional 11" (28cm)
of working space.
CLINICAL BENEFIT

Allows the arm to be extend outward for brachial access
WARNINGS
•
DO NOT sit, stand or place heavy objects on the Rad Board Xtra.
•
REMOVE the Rad Board Xtra prior to moving the patient if possible. If not possible, move the
patient to a surface of equal height to the table.
•
If at any time the radial or brachial site is abandoned, it is recommended that the Rad Board
Xtra be removed before proceeding with lower extremity access (femoral).
•
DO NOT drop Rad Board Xtra as this could damage the product.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
For perpendicular arm placement with the Rad Board
1.
Slide the Rad Board Xtra under the mattress on the procedure between the two uprights on
the Rad Board (Figure 2).
NOTE: Make sure that the working part of the Rad Board Xtra is pushed all the way until the edge
meets the upright at the head end of Rad Board.
NOTE: The Rad Board Xtra is reversible. When used on the right side of the table, the label is facing
upward. When using on the left side of the table, the label is facing downward.
2.
Extend the patient's arm onto the Rad Board Xtra. The Merit Medical Rad Rest® (sold separately)
is recommended for arm placement and support during the procedure.
3.
After access is obtained, remove the Rad Board Xtra and place arm on the Rad Board.
4.
Follow instructions below if the Rad Board Xtra is to be used to provide more working space.
5.
After use, wipe down with a hospital approved antiseptic wipe or spray.
6.
Completely dry the Rad Board Xtra and store upright or flat away from extreme heat or cold.
For 11" (28cm) of additional working space
1.
Slide the Rad Board Xtra under the mattress on the procedure table at the foot of the Rad Board
(under the sterile drape) (Figure 3).
NOTE: The Rad Board Xtra is reversible. When used on the right side of the table, the label is facing
upward. When using on the left side of the table, the label is facing downward.
2.
Push the Rad Board Xtra until the edge is even with the Rad Board.
3.
After use, remove the Rad Board Xtra and wipe down with a hospital approved antiseptic wipe
or spray.
4.
Completely dry the Rad Board Xtra and store upright or flat away from extreme heat or cold.
