5. Assembly and commissioning
Danger!
• Only open the control unit and carry out maintenance work on the entire machine when the mains plug is disconnected!
• Work on the control unit, sensor board, motor and electrical cables may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
• The unit must be operated from a 230 V socket outlet with a protective earth contact. This must be fused with a B16 A circuit breaker (LS). In
addition, a separate 30 mA residual current circuit breaker (FI) must be provided. A combined FI/LS switch with corresponding tripping charac-
teristics is possible.
• The residual current circuit breaker should only supply the circuits intended for this unit.
• The mains plug may only be connected to the socket when the machine has been fully assembled and fixed to the wall.
• Do not use extension cables to connect the unit.
• Check the function of the residual current circuit breaker regularly with the function key.
• The machine must always be secured against falling or toppling over while being installed – risk of fatal injury!
• Place a retaining strap through the joint piece and secure it with a lifting device!
• Do not mount the drive and brush unit until the suspension arm is securely mounted.
• Never reach between the joint piece and the motor unit during assembly.
Caution!
• During assembly, make sure that no tensile force is applied to the connecting cable between the drive and brush unit and the control unit
housing or that the cable is mechanically damaged!
• Place the control box above the unit and out of reach of the animals!
• Motor cables from the unit frame to the control unit may have to be protected from being chewed by animals!
5.1 Scope of delivery
The unit is delivered on a pallet. The drive unit and brush are already assembled ready for use. The suspension arm is attached separately to the
pallet. The axle bolt for the bearing directly below the suspension arm is pre-assembled on the suspension arm and must be dismantled to as-
semble the drive and brush unit! The control unit is also already connected to the drive and brush unit ready for operation.
5.2 Checks before commissioning
Before commissioning the unit, it must always be checked for completeness, visible defects or sources of danger.
The following checking measures should be carried out:
• Check the unit for loose or hanging parts or damage sustained during transport.
• Check the cable insulation.
• Check that all guards (drive unit cover) are present and in perfect working order.
• Check whether there are any sources of danger near the unit that could impair its problem-free and safe operation (water hoses, influence of
weather, hanging cables or ropes, etc.).
5.3 Installation
The best possible positioning and stable securing is particularly important for ensuring the problem-free operation of this heavy-duty unit.
The following must be noted:
• Do not set up the unit in a confined space in the pen.
• To avoid backlogs, do not set up the unit directly before or after the milking station.
• Do not set up the machine in proximity to equipment that is sensitive to dust.
• Mount the electrical control unit on a stable, vibration-free base to avoid damage to electronic parts caused by shaking.
• Protect the unit and control unit from sun and precipitation.
• If set up outside, protect the unit and the control unit from sun, rain and snow with a roof.
• Mount the unit on a firm, stable and level surface.
• For brick walls, a large, pressure-resistant underlay (e.g. screen printing plate at least 19 mm or steel plate at least 5 mm) with the dimensions
500 x 500 mm is recommended.
• The unit must be connected to the wall through all 6 mounting holes of the suspension arm.
• Fixing material must be matched to the substrate by competent personnel.
• Heavy duty anchors or adhesive anchors are recommended for concrete walls.
• When mounting on brick or wood, continuous threaded rods are recommended.
• Use at least thread size M12.
• Secure the screw connection against self-loosening. Use self-locking nuts and/or threadlocker for this purpose.
• Check attachments regularly and re-tighten if necessary.
• Only mount the unit with a suitable lifting device.
• Observe applicable accident prevention regulations!
Tip
Secure the unit to an even, solid concrete wall.
