Shoulder strap
The shoulder strap should gently hold
the patient erect, but should not cut in.
Select the tension so that the shoulder
strap lies flat against the shoulder.
How ever, it should still be possible to
push the flat hand between the strap
and the shoulder. Stand to the side of the
patient. It is important that you first
tighten the complete strap, from bottom
to the top. Loosen the strap in the
shoulder area on one side of the body
(Fig. 2). Now pass the strap through the
tunnel element towards the back until
the strap is taut (Fig. 3). Shorten the
strap (Fig. 4). Now guide the strap to the
front at a 180-degree-angle and fasten it
(Fig. 5).
Check that the shoulder pads are seated
correctly. They should be positioned so
that the pad lies across the front of the
shoulder area (Fig. 6).
The band strap should roll in underneath
the armpit in order to prevent friction.
A flexible spiral rod has been
incorporated into each shoulder strap to
make it easier to put on.
These may be removed if necessary.
Attention: To prevent slipping of the
back support, the pelvic belt must be
done up tighter than the shoulder straps.
If the support slips upwards sometimes,
this has no impact on the function of the
brace. However, the patient should pull
the back support down again.
Elastic middle strap
Adjust the middle strap to the optimum
length so that the reverse buckle is
located behind the armpit and the
patient's shoulders are adequately held
backwards.
Checking the fit of the brace
• Back pad adjusted to fit the patient's
spinal curvature
• The pelvic strap runs firmly below the
hip bone
• The shoulder strap is flat against the
body and the flat hand can still be
inserted between the strap and the
shoulder
• The shoulder pad is in the optimum
position
• The elastic connecting strap is
adjusted to the correct length
Spinomed
Dear patient!
Your doctor has recommended that
you wear a Spinomed. In order to
make application easier, please read
the instructions carefully.
Putting on the orthosis
Wear the Spinomed over your clothes. To
make it easier for you to put on the
brace, it is helpful to stand in front of a
long mirror.
Putting on the Spinomed is like
putting on a rucksack
• Undo the large hook and loop
fastening at the front.
• Put on the orthosis as you would
normally put on a rucksack (Fig. 7). The
lighter side of the back brace goes
against your back (Fig. 10).
• Slip your right hand into the loop on
the right side of the fastening, grip the
thumb opening on the left side of the
fastening with the other hand and
close the stomach fastening (Fig. 8).
Alternatively, you can also use the
thumb opening on the right side of the
fastening. The brace is fitted correctly
when the lower edge of the fastening
is directly above the groin (Fig. 9).
Now look in the mirror to check
• The fit of the back brace: this should
