and to the entry (pin 4). When exceeding the thres hold a wireless sig-
nal ot the wireless part is transmitted. The battery status is transmit-
ted with every signal transmission. The transmission is carried out at a
frequency of 868.3 or 915 MHz. The receiver must conform to the
sWave ® protocol of the steute modules.
Mounting / Wiring
The wireless switch should be mounted on an even surface. The sens-
ing range accordingly depends on the local conditions. Thus the radio
signal can be strongly affected by conductive materials. This also in-
cludes thin foils, e.g. aluminium laminations on insulation materials. A
test with the field strength indicator swView 868 mat.-No. 1190393 or
swView 915 mat.-No. 1221794 should be carried out. Typical sensing
ranges are:
Sight connection outside: approx. 400 m
Sight connection inside: approx. 50 m
Design of sensing range
Because radio signals are electromagnetic waves the signal is attenu-
ated on its way from the transmitter to the receiver. This means the
electrical as well as the magnetic field strengths decrease and in fact
inversely proportional to the squared distance of transmitter and re-
ceiver (E,H~1/r²). In addition to this natural restriction of the sensing
range further interference factors occur: Metal parts, e. g. armours in
walls, metal foils of thermal insulations or vapour deposited metal
layer heat protection glass reflect electromagnetic waves. Therefore a
socalled deadspot can be found behind them. Indeed radio waves are
able to penetrate walls but the attenuation increases even more than
in the free field. Penetration of radio waves:
wood, gypsum, glas uncoated
brick stone, press boards
armoured concrete
metal, aluminium lamination
sight connection in free field

WARNING
- Hazard by electrostatic discharge
- Avoid electrostatic discharge
- The device including corresponding sensors may only be installed in
hazardous atmospheres of group II in such a way that dangerous
electrostatic charge may not occur. Only to be cleaned with wet cloth.
The capacity of not earthed metal components (abstr. 7.5 of the EN
60079-0:2012) is less than 10 pF.
- The corresponding inductive proximity sensors type Ex RF IS M**
nb-ST Xm must be included by insertion into to the potential equali-
sation.
Notices
The processing of one switching command from transmitter to receiv-
er lasts approx. 80 to 100 ms on basis of the sWave ® data transmis-
sion. The switching signal of a transmitter must not be generated in
shorter time sequences otherwise this signal will be suppressed. The
devices can be operated registration- and license-free on the territory

of the EC, Switzerland and Cyprus. The use in other countries must be
explicitely clarified! Subject to technical modifications. Reconstruction
and alterations at the switch are not allowed. Moreover steute does
not assume any liability for recommendations made or implied by this
description. From this description new claims for guarantee, warranty
or liability cannot be derived beyond the general terms and conditions
of delivery.
Maintenance
With rough conditions, we recommend routine maintenance
as follows:
1. Remove all dirt or particles.
2. To be cleaned only with wet cloth
3. Replace battery: The batteries max be replaced by the operator. To
replace the battery loosen the 5 cover screws with a torx T6 wrench
and remove the cover. Insert the battery according to the positive
terminal marking. Afterwards mount the cover and tighten it hand-
screwed with the 5 cover screws.
Safety notes
1. Only batteries type M52 EX SVKP/036 of the manufacturer Friwo
with the EC type test certificate ZELM 13 ATEX 0512 X may be used.
2. Modifications or repairing of the battery are not allowed.
3. The above mentioned batteries are intrinsic safe and thus may not
be replaced within the hazardous area. When handling batteries
within the hazardous area due care must be exercised. Therefore
special provisions must be arranged in order to avoid short-circuits
or damage of the battery. Thus the batteries should only be trans-
ported in suitable, electrical insulated packaging with the hazardous
area.
4. The battery replacement must be exclusively carried out by author-
ised pesonnel. The authorised personnel must have knowledge
about protection mehods, prescriptions for equipment for hazardous
area and its Ex marking.
5. Batteries with obvious damages, especially around the positive ter-
minal, must not be applied or brought into the hazardous area.
6. The demounting and mounting of the battery, may only be carried
out manually and without tools.
7. In addition, the operating instructions of the batteries must be ob-
served.
Mounting notes
Mounting notes for inductive non-flush inductive proximity sensors se-
ries Ex RF IS M** nb-ST Xm. The following conditions must be ob-
served for the installation.
Freefield
With inductive proximity sensors the function principles is based on
the influence of an stray electromagnetic field. Because this stray field
does not only interfere with the to be dectected object but also with
other conductive objects and also interfers with other inductive sen-
sors some mounting conditions must be observed. Opposite the active
surface the minimum distance to a conductive surface 3 x s n .
